Joe P
MA, LPC

Joe understands that finding your way isn’t always easy and sometimes takes a few tries. He is a jack of all trades as he has done carpentry, landscaping, digital design and since 2003 has worked in various roles as a counselor and family therapist/coach. Early on in his counseling career he began using body movement and other activity based methods to help folks achieve goals and learn tools and skills for living a balanced and meaningful life. Joe considers himself an outdoor dog who loves chillin with yoga, a good book and expresses his own creativity through writing and dancing like a fool.

What is your name? Joe Penn

What is your nickname? Joe- my first name is Daniel.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in the Dallas Texas metro area and when I was 14 moved to a little university and farming town in Northern Illinois and made it out to the beautiful state of Colorado in 2005.

What was your favorite class in school? I actually took an elective psychology class in high school— that’s when I first realized I was a Psych Nerd.

Who was your favorite band growing up? Too many to count— if being a foodie is a thing then I’m a musicie.

Name your 3 favorite jobs you’ve had? Worked a golf course for a summer, helped build a challenge course and then of course being a counselor/coach/mentor.

What do you love doing more than anything else in the world? Sunday naps are amazing! Then a really good yoga class!

What’s your favorite food? A big forearm dripping, finger licking, artery clogging burger!

Chocolate or vanilla? call or text? truth or dare? Neither! I do love coffee though. I have really big thumbs— so call. And I’m a dare devil at heart- I’ve eaten some really weird things.

What is your greatest accomplishment? I haven’t achieved it yet— but I’ll let you know when I do.

What do you know now that you wish you knew then? Don’t buy the first car you test drive and in life- you can’t change the waves but you can learn to surf… although I don’t know how to surf.

What did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be an astronaut —still want to be, but I think that rocket has launched.
