Roland was born and raised in Leesburg, VA, just outside of DC. He also spent a large part of his early life living in Harpers Ferry, WV, as well as Myrtle Beach, SC. Roland has worked in a therapeutic capacity in health, wellness, and recovery for nearly 10 years. Roland first got involved in therapeutic work as an undergrad in West Virginia, working in Hospice. At the age of 23, Roland rebuilt an antique motorcycle and rode the coast to South Carolina. Later moving out to Boulder, CO to finish his Bachelor’s degree at Naropa University. While in school he assisted in conducting research at the Department of Psychology and Neuroscience. Later becoming a grad student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Roland has worked in many fields over the course of his life, from construction, to sales, to personal training/coaching. Most recently holding the title of Team Counselor for a home-based mental health organization. He loves reading, chess, sports, wrestling, and powerlifting.

What is your nickname? My nieces enjoy calling me uncle “RoRo,” Ro is also a popular choice

Where did you grow up? Leesburg, Virginia

What was your favorite class in school? History, Mathematics, and Economics

Who was your favorite band growing up? Only one? Linkin Park growing up, but my two favorite songs of all-time, hands down, are Lean on Me by Bill Withers and Thrift Store Suitcase by The Mulligan Brothers.

Name your 3 favorite jobs you’ve had? Aside from my therapeutic career, I have greatly enjoyed working as a…
Parachute Packer for skydiving, Strength/Lifting Coach, and a Sound engineer for live performing music.

What do you love doing more than anything else in the world? I enjoy expanding my interests and learning new things.

What’s your favorite food? Nothing beats a good homemade soup with grilled cheese

What do you know now that you wish you knew then? I wish I knew how beneficial it was, mentally and practically, to make a plan and develop a regular discipline or practice in something.

What did you want to be when you grew up? This has changed a lot, but I have wanted to be an artist, a video game designer, an engineer, a mathematician, a diplomat, or a clinical psychologist.
