Jon earned a master’s degree in Psychology: Contemplative Psychocoaching from Naropa University in 2006, and he is a Therapeutic Coach in the state of Colorado. He has more than ten years’ experience working with a broad variety of clients. Many of these years were devoted to working with individuals in the criminal justice system, both in and out of incarceration, who had various mental health diagnoses with co-occurring substance abuse disorders. Jon also has many years experience in working with individuals outside of the criminal justice system with various mental health challenges, addictions, and developmental disabilities, providing therapeutic services for them in their homes and in the community. Jon also teaches t’ai-chi ch’uan, which he has been studying and practicing for over 18 years.

3. Where did you grow up? Annapolis, MD
4. What was your favorite class in school (k-grad school)? My favorite classes changed over time because I had many interests. It also sometimes depended on the instructor teaching the class.
5. Who was your favorite band growing up? The Doors
6. Name your 3 favorite jobs you’ve had? Jail Coach, t’ai-chi instructor, stay-at-home dad
7. What do you love doing more than anything else in the world? Practicing t’ai-chi ch’uan while simultaneously spending time with my wife and two children (I also enjoy playing the piano).
8. What’s your favorite food? Steamed Maryland Blue Crabs
9. Chocolate or vanilla? Call or text? Truth or dare? It all depends on the situation.
10. Your greatest accomplishment: the moments when I realize that just being is enough.
11. What do you know now that you wish you knew then? The secret to enjoying life is acceptance and being okay with who I am (though I am constantly having to re-learn this).
12. What did you want to be when you grew up? When I was very young, my older brother asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I responded, “A bird.”
